CHS Alumni Association supports
CHS Mock Trial program

Picture

The Circleville High School Alumni Association recently awarded the high school Mock Trial program the funds necessary to support their program operations for the 2019-2020 school year.

The alumni association's financial gift, made possible through the support of our members, will cover the organization's membership in the Ohio Center for Law Related Education, the 2019-2020 Ohio Mock Trial Case File, and competition registration.

Mock Trial at Circleville High School offers an interactive approach to learning about government and how our legal system functions. Guided by teachers and volunteer legal advisors, students participate in original, unscripted simulated trials written by attorneys. High school students argue both sides of the case in real courtrooms across the state and each student is assigned a role in the case such as plaintiff, defendant, prosecutor, defense attorney, and witness among others.

As of October 15th, the group has 19 members (up seven from last year) enrolled as meetings are already under way in preparation for its January 2020 simulated court case. The 2020 Ohio Mock Trial Case, Rory Maldonado v. Varga, et al., the students will study examines the First Amendment right to free speech.

Eight down two to go!

When the new Circleville City Schools were slated for construction your Alumni Association pledged $50,000 over 10 years to help fund the Alumni Room.  Shown are Superintendent Jonathan Davis (left) receiving the 8th installment from Alumni President Casey Lockard.  This support is possible through your annual dues and generous donations.

The CHS Alumni Association is in need of one or more individuals to maintain the database and two websites.  If you are a CHS graduate and have skills in these areas you are encouraged to email CirclevilleAlumni@gmail.com listing your qualifications and experience.

The Circleville High School Alumni Association is always looking for individuals who are interested in  helping to further the cause of the alumni association by serving on the board of directors or volunteering to assist with our many activities throughout the year.  If you are a CHS graduate and are interested in learning more about how you can be a part of the alumni association we would encourage you to  enter your contact information on the "Contact us" page.
